For my graduate thesis at Victoria Univesity in 1995, I investigated the interplay between through theories of perception and symbolism. I used the poetry of Anne French as a framework to test the comparitive power of image and text and explore how meaning is constructed, shifted, and read via complementary and constrasting formats.
In its execution, I produced a series of six 30 × 42 cm etchings, drawing on the methods of William Blake. These combined drypoint and acid etching with direct painting onto the zinc plate, resulting in a limited set of prints that retain the singularity and variation of one-off works.
